Rosh Hashanah
Rosh Hashanah celebrates the creation of the world and marks the beginning of the Jewish New Year. It is a time for reflecting on the past year and for making resolutions for the year ahead. Apples and honey are eaten in hopes that the new year is "sweet". The High Holidays end ten days later on Yom Kippur, the most important day in the Jewish year. Yom Kippur is also known as the "Day of Atonement". The days between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur are recognized as "Days of Awe" or "Days of Repentance" during which time the Jewish people evaluate the past year and ask for forgiveness in order to improve their judgment before it is sealed on Yom Kippur. To all our Jewish customers and friends... "May you be inscribed and sealed for a good year!" (*Containers and products may vary slightly*) |
